On August 2, 2026, the Tongan Youth of the Parramatta Diocese held an insightful Vocations Panel, bringing together people from different states of life. I represented Religious Life as a temporarily professed Sister Disciple of the Divine Master.
The young people showed a genuine desire to discover what God is calling them to, while seeking guidance on how to discern His voice. I shared that every vocation has a purpose in God’s plan and that responding to God’s call is a free and personal choice. In Religious Life, God calls some women and men to dedicate themselves to a particular mission and to build His Kingdom.
I also shared that prayer is essential in nurturing one’s vocation. For us, as Sister Disciples, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is at the heart of our life and mission. At the same time, following God’s call does not mean being free from challenges. Community life, with people from different cultures, backgrounds and generations, can bring misunderstandings and difficulties. Yet these challenges can also help us grow in flexibility, virtue and our identity as religious.
I was grateful for the opportunity to share my journey and to listen to the other panellists’ experiences. I hope our sharing encouraged the young people to seek guidance courageously and remain open to God’s call. May the Lord of the harvest continue to send labourers into His vineyard.
